LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A lightning strike sparked a morning fire at a two-story home in Lafayette and damaged another nearby house that was under construction.
Smoke was reported at a two-story home on Orchard Park Avenue on Thursday, May 1, just after 10 a.m.
Construction workers building a nearby home witnessed the lightning strike that led to the blaze.
The smoke and flames were visible upon the firefighters’ arrival, and they quickly brought the fire under control within 15 minutes.
The homeowner was not there at the time of the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The lightning also caused damage to the structure of the nearby home under construction.
